Tree top and Ocean View Room
|住所||Peverell St, 02125 Boston, アメリカ合衆国|
The room has a marvelous view of majestic old trees in one direction, and a panoramic view of the hillside and Boston Harbor in the other direction. It is fully furnished, including a memory foam Tempur Pedic bed. The shared kitchen is fully equipped; rent includes WiFi, utilities, laundry facilities, easy on street parking. Bathrooms (three of them) and common areas (two living rooms, big balcony, eat-in kitchen, front and back yards and deck with grille) are shared. Ocean views from most windows, ocean breezes, high ceilings and wood floors, crown moldings, carved fireplaces, and custom Victorian decor distinguish this charming home.
People have compared it to the Weazely's house in Harry Potter--something fascinating around every corner, with books, games, and artwork left behind by the world travelers, artists, engineers and medical people who have lived here. The house combines the homey comfort of a vintage farm house (it was a wedding present from the farmer who owned the hill to his daughter, in 1880, and still has the farmhouse-style kitchen) with the elegance of art nouveau-style decor in the bedrooms and shared areas--paintings, elegant carved fireplaces, colored glass and bay windows, and more. It was built at a time when architects wanted to celebrate local resources such as fine-grained varieties of wood, abundant light, and flexible uses of space and whimsical exterior color. There are inspiring views of the harbor islands and the city skyline and of huge leafy trees; large balconies to relax on with Breughel-like views of historic houses marching down to the bay; you can watch sailboats floating on the harbor in the distance or see the city lights blinking on at night, or just watch the blue jays and cardinals play nearby in the giant trees.
Your host, Jessica, is a therapist and musician who speaks several languages (Italian, French and English) and has a good understanding of some others (including Spanish). She grew up in Italy and Africa, has traveled a lot, and is happy to share ideas on fun things to see and do in Boston. The alternate phone number listed, view-able if you decide to book the room, is for my assistant Michael; he will let you in if I am away.
We are a quick subway ride on the Red Line to the financial district, MGH, Boston Common and the Freedom Trail, MIT, UMass Boston, the Kennedy Library, South Boston, Lesley, Harvard, and more; or take a ten minute bus ride to the BU medical center and medical school. Several restaurants within walking distance with \"best of Boston\" write-ups, also grocery stores, ice cream shop, and breakfast cafe on the way to the subway station. Fifteen minutes from Santander Bank headquarters and the Italian consulate. Historical sights within biking distance include the John F. Kennedy Museum and Library, the Uphams Corner cemetery, and the oldest house in Boston!

I really enjoyed my stay in Boston. Nice house and clean rooms. The city center can be reached via public transport within 20 minutes.
The room and the house in general were very nice to stay in. Even though Jessica was not here to great us, she did every thing to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The house is very close to a subway station and close to the center of Boston. This is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting the city. I highly recommand it !
Nice location, a ten minutes walk away from the train station(from where one gets to town quite quickly). Jessica seems to be really nice, she answers quick and provides tips on activities which can be done in Boston. As well everything worked out as discussed with her prior to our stay. Unfortunately we did not meet her in person.
However, unfortunately some of the interior in the house is a little bit old fashioned and some rooms are really full with lots of different stuff. But if you look for a rather cheap room to stay in Boston this is a good place to be.
This is more a tree top room than an ocean view, but the bed was comfortable and Jessica is a wonderful hostess and we enjoyed getting to know her a little. This very affordable room allowed us to stay longer in Boston than we would have otherwise and the 1890's gives you a flavor of what Boston was like at that time. We found it very interesting and enjoyable. Would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed a very nice stay. Good room, nice house, access to house has been proactively provided, since Jessica could not be there during arrival.
The house was clean, we could use the kitchen and everything in it.
On our table in our room we found many practical advises for exploring the city, using subway and getting access to it or hints for the next mini market.
We would come again gladly.
a very beautiful house, in a quiet neighborhood of boston, next to the metro station to downtown!
Jessica is a very nice host! Although we only met once in her kitchen during our stay (we stayed for 2 nights) it was a very nice conversation. Her house is really special with each room furnished and decorated in a very particular and individual way. And in the morning you can have coffee on the wooden veranda with view to the sea :-) The subway is only a 10 Minute walk away. Only minus: it was very hot when we were there in July and there was no AC in the room (however the fan helped!) and the bathroom could do with a renovation. All in all we definitely enjoyed our stay at her house and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for some kind of personal style accommodation.
I stayed for a week with Jessica in south Boston. The house was easy to get to as it was essentially in a straight line from the Savin Hill subway, which is about 45 mins from Logan International. Jessica was welcoming and took time to help me settle in, and provided help on where to go and what to do in Boston. Boston has a good public subway system, so for a week I only spent $20 on a weekly 'Charlie' card. The room was spacious and comfortable. My room was one of five or so, which had other singles/couples staying in for various time periods. Jessica was genial and interesting to speak with. I enjoyed my visit (thank you Jessica).
Jessica is a very experienced host and has gathered a lot of useful information for her guests, including directions, restaurant tips and things to see and do in Boston.
I did not use the kitchen or the living room. Everything seemed very well equipped.
The Tree Top and Ocean View room looked nicer on the pictures than it was in reality. The other rooms I saw looked very nice. The bathroom could do with a renovation.
The connection to the city and the airport with public transport is good. Only the walk from the subway to the house with luggage is a little challenging because it is uphill,
All in all it was a very good starting point for me to explore Boston.
