good organized and very friendly contact. Appartment was clean an close to any main attraction in the old city. Those love partying be adviced that area is at night times more laid back and you had to walk a minimum of 10-15 minutes for touristik areas with bars and restaurant. Quite close to the appartment building is a street stuffed with fish restaurants where mostly turkish people with families are around and live music everywhere. For women travellers: best when come late to check a taxi.
One word : perfect! We had a great flat in an awesome location. Saban was really nice and available. I would go back there with pleasure!
Everything was perfect. Saban was very helpful. The Location was very convienent for the Blue Mosque. Nice restauerant we within a few blocks of the Apartment. The neighborhood itself was not the best, but in no problematic. In General we found it was better to pay with credit card or lires, not euros.
We never met Saban, but was picked up from the airport as promised, and met outside the house by Saban's friend or employee. Everyone was nice, the room clean and well equipped. It was cleaned every day by a nice woman. To this price, the room was very good, in quite charming surroundings. A slightly unpleasant smell from the bathroom, though.
I booked this studio for my parents, they really enjoyed staying there. Saban is a great host and was very kind to help them during their time in Istanbul. It was very tidy and was cleaned every day. Furthermore there was a safe in the room. Everything was very good, thanks again :)
We booked this apartment twice, on our way into Turkey and on our way out however we only ended up staying in it once. I will explain further.
We stayed at this studio on the way into Turkey for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. It is beautifully styled and newly decorated. Meeting Mohamad to pick up the keys was easy and everything was straight forward. This place is a 5 minute walk downhill from Beyazit tram station so the perfect location as well and you can walk to all the major tourist sites. There are supermarkets nearby and the cleaner comes every day, just like a hotel really! A note to the light sleepers out there, it can get noisy at night like any other city with a workshop next door and the rubbish truck coming out at night time so may not be the best option for light sleepers.
After going down to the coast we came back to Istanbul and had booked this apartment again. We had asked Mohamad if we could check into this apartment early and he said we could but we would have to come near to their office to get the keys. We went to meet them on our arrival and he sent Saban to meet us who didn't turn up for 50 minutes. I had to keep sending international text messages to find out what was going on. We were annoyed to say the least seeing as it was our last night in Turkey and they had really wasted our time. When he turned up he said that our apartment wasn't ready (when Mohamad had said it would be) and that he could take us to another apartment. This made us even more annoyed because we wanted the one we had booked. Since we didn't have much time and they had already wasted our time we went to the other apartment which was close to the Blue Mosque. Although bigger than Duzgun Sk 10, it wasn't nearly as nice as that one in my opinion. Later on that evening we were trying to prepare dinner and the cooker wasn't working either. There was no gas at all. I think another reviewer has written about a similar experience. On this second occasion the service was very poor indeed. Their communication skills needs to improve as well although it may be a language barrier but from dealing with Mohamad his English is very good. So a word of warning: Make sure you get taken to the apartment you actually booked! These guys would have been given 5 stars if this hadn't happened and we had stayed at our original apartment and checked in early as we requested.
We had a mixed experience with this stay, but on the whole it was quite satisfactory. Saban arranged transfers from the airport, & after letting him know our flight was delayed we were met accordingly-thanks Saban! We weren't, however, delivered to our booked accommodation but to an alternative. We we're told that there were some repairs being done & that we would be taken there the next day. We subsequently found that our room had been double-booked. The alternative accommodation was ok, similar location & very clean. The following day we were taken to our booked room only to find later it wasn't the one we booked. Again the room was very clean, comfortable, plenty of hot water & good location (there are some great seafood restaurants nearby very reasonably priced). The grand bazaar is not far, but a climb up the hill. Saban was very gracious in acknowledging the errors & arranged our shuttle to the airport at no cost. Even though it wasn't the experience we originally booked, the accommodations & encounter with Saban & Mohammad were positive & recommendable.
The apartment is in a great location, maybe a ten minute walk from the Sultanahmet sites, and near a large number of restaurants in the Kumkapi neighborhood. It was very easy to get taxis to and from, as it is a well known area, and very close to the main road along the water, so easy in rush hour too. Clean and quiet, but in a local neighborhood (which I consider a good thing), not a tourist area. Saban is very nice and helpful, also arranging transportation to and from the airport. I'll be back next time I go to Istanbul!
The studio is in a brilliant location for exploring the old town, visiting the main tourist attractions on foot and is close to the water-front. It is also surprisingly quiet. The painting of the studio and the entrance stair has been done by a craftsman and the fittings are good quality. The shower is spacious and provides plenty hot water. The balcony is small with a restricted view but enough to sit outside and watch life in the street. The kitchen area is small but was plenty for our needs. With a cleaning lady coming in daily it is more like a good hotel.
We had a great time in Istanbul. Transfer was perfectly organised and we had a warm welcome from Saban. The appartment was very charming decorated, very clean, maked by a lovely lady every day (cleaned, new towels etc).
The only thing you need to know is, that the way from the appartment to the sights (grand basar, blue moschee and tramway also) is 400 m uphill! So don't forget sneakers! :-)
