me and my girlfriend stayed in Nj at Sylwia´s appartment for almost one week. The flat was quite ok for that price but "minutes from manhattan" is maybe not the perfect expression. All in all you need 30 to 45 minutes to get to Manhattan when you take the bus to Grove Station and pathway to WTC or whatever. If you want to go straight to midtown plan with a few more minutes.
When we arrived at the flat it was occupied by a stranger who didn´t open the door. So we had to wait for Sylwia for half an hour. Actually that was not our deal. She said it was a missunderstanding and sorted that problem out.
The flat itself was almost clean but not fairly equipped. It should be possible to have some salt, pepper, sharp knives, a can-opener, a bigger pot and another pan in that flat. Just the basics in a kitchen. Then it would be awesome cause the kitchen is actually quite nice. We liked the livingroom and our bedroom. The flush of the toilette was leaking and running for longer times and not well cleaned. There were hairs and surely not from us.
Downstairs there was a very helpful guy from poland. He helped us out on our first evenung and brought us to a grocery store, a bank and a small restaurant in an old VW Beetle. That was a quite nice experience.
The contact with Sylwia was ok, the first evening was strange though because of the other person in our booked appartment.
The last point is the neighborhood. I can´t recommend to walk on the streets after 10 pm. It´s basically not the best street in a black community. During the day it´s not a problem. Once people, kids threw a can against our taxi and the taxi driver asked us if we are sure to at that place. We did it, it was kind of awkward but also nice. It´s not the typical touristic place to stay. But for our needs it was enough. We would do it again because you can save lots of money when you stay there. :) It was good but not perfect.
Anyway, thank Sylwia.
Sylwia super nice clean accommodation was very comfortable 15 minutes from Manhattan by subway
Lovely, clean room. Modern apartment and friendly environment. Well-recommend.
The flat is lovely, really clean, and the flatmates were really nice too. However, it is in New Jersey, not New York, and I found it really hard to get to the first time. To save you what it took me a day to find out, however you end up in New York, get the blue subway line (E) to World Trade Centre, then walk down to the PATH train station. Get any train going out of there, and get out at Exchange. Then go up the escalators (you're now in New Jersey), walk up towards the traffic lights and then turn to your left, where you will see the HBLR (light railway). Get on the one going to West Side Avenue, and take it to Liberty State Park. Then walk across the car park (heading the same way as the train), and you're on Communipaw Avenue. Keep walking up here, past the myriad of chapels, and on the left you will come to Sylwia's - the street looks a bit shady, but you should be fine. The flat is the ground floor flat (eg, not up the stairs). Enjoy your trip!
A very nice and comfortable furnished apartment. Everything was perfect. We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to come back for a second time. Thank you very much!
Hey guys, so I had two weeks in the room, and found it perfectly adequate! that's not so far away from NYC as I thought. The neighbors were also very friendly.
I had everything I needed, bed, bath, wi-fi, kitchen and lots of ice in the fridge :)
sylwia is very nice and showed me everything in the beginning and told what I needed to know.
To the hotel room, I recommend people to experience more of the NYC, and not for those who just sit at home!
Sylvia is a great host and very uncomplicated. Things can be organised very quick and relaxed. The room and bath was small but very nice and clean. The appartment is beautifull and very modern. Internet is no problem. The only thing on the negative side is the long way to PATH train, which connects New Jersey with Manhattan. But there is a light train for another $2,10 from Liberty Park to Exchange Place/PATH. The neighbourhood is poor but friendly and I enjoyed the stay. thx!
Although the apartment was a large, clean bedroom the toilet leaked when you flushed it, the airconditioning was only in the bedroom, there was only one pot to cook with and it was situated an an area of Jersey city that was not very nice. There were few restraunts, public transport was at least 20 minutes walk away and the only way to get a cab was to reserve one. We moved out before the end of our stay to an apartment in Manhatten as travelling from This part of Jersey city took too much time.
Sylwia was graceful, the apartment was renovated as advertised but we had some issues with there being no a/c as advertised and as it was uncommonly warm for the season. It made things very uncomfortable. Would not have been an issue, as we could open the windows but both nights we stayed, there were screaming people outside all night. We did not get much sleep and so we left early. Also, although the apartment had a lovely fully-fleshed out kitchen, there was little to no cooking utensils or pots and pans. So, it was pretty much useless for us. I don't think we would stay again due to those problems.
Very friendly hostess.
Room was absolutely convenient to sleep in. Bathroom was also good.
Michael, the other guy who lived in, was also very friendly and helpful.
Neighbourhood seemed pretty OK.
The only a bit negative thing is that it take pretty long to get to Manhattan and you have to take 2-3 transports.
But for this price it is not a shame to drive 15min longer.
I would recommend it!
