The Goody House Bed & Breakfast

Welcome to our home in Manning, a suburb about 8kms south of Perth city centre. We offer a private room with a comfortable queen size bed and private bathroom and toilet. You have use of the pool and the garden. Continental breakfast is provided. We can provide information about Perth and places to visit and things to do.
Bus to the city is a 2 minute walk. Canning Bridge train station is a 20 minute walk or take the bus to the station. At Canning Bridge you can connect to buses to Fremantle and elsewhere and trains to Mandurah or the city (and beyond). If you have a car, we are close to the freeway to the city or down south and Canning Highway to take you to Fremantle. We are only a few minutes from Curtin University.
There is a small supermarket just a 5 minute walk down the street plus a café, fruit shop, butcher, newsagent, liquor store and pharmacy. A larger shopping centre with supermarkets, post-office, bakery and many dine-in and take-away restaurants and fast food stores is about a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes on the bus. There is a great café/coffee shop serving light meals and pizzas a couple of blocks away.
If you have a car there is parking in our driveway behind a security gate. Free Wi-Fi.
We are not a five-star hotel but we are sure you will find our home a welcoming and relaxing place to stay while you enjoy the many sights and activities of Perth and its surrounds. Come home to our quiet sanctuary after a busy day of playing tourist or conducting business.
Check-in (from 2.00pm) and check-out (by 11.00am) times are negotiable depending on availability of the room. We are also open to stays of longer than 7 nights. Just ask.

A continental breakfast (cereal, juice, toast, tea or coffee) is available between 7am and 10am. If you require breakfast earlier, just ask. Please let us know in the evening an approximate time you would like breakfast. If we are not here, breakfast will be set up for you to help yourself. Tea and coffee is available all day.
Please use the exhaust fan when showering (bottom switch inside the door). The light for the mirror and the power points are inside the mirrored cabinet.
The shower has an instant water heater. To start the flow of hot water, pull out the mixer tap fully and then adjust. Please use the scraper to clean the glass after showering. Use the bathmat as the tiles can be slippery when wet.
If you forgot your basic shower amenities, please ask.
Use of the kitchen is generally restricted to preparing sandwiches and so forth for lunch and not for cooking meals (other arrangements may be possible). Please ask before using the kitchen and please leave the kitchen clean and tidy. Do not help yourself to food in the pantry or fridge. No preparation of meals in your room.
LAUNDRY AND IRONING
There is an ironing board and iron in the laundry. Please ask if you need to use it. Please do not wash clothes in the bathroom. If you want to use the laundry, please ask. A small charge of $2 per wash applies. We use the outside clothes line for drying and only use the clothes dryer when necessary.
Please use our on-site parking and refrain from parking on the street or verges.
ALARM AND LOCKING UP THE HOUSE
The house is alarmed when no one is here. If we are not going to be here, we will provide a key and a code and instructions on setting and disarming the alarm. The bedroom window is locked and we will give you a key. Please ensure all doors and windows are locked before you go out. The front security door must be locked at all times. Just flip the locking device.
There is a sensor security light on the front porch. Please do not turn it off.
SAVING THE PLANET
We aim to be an environmentally friendly household. Perth has limited water supplies. Therefore we ask that you be mindful of water use when using the hand basin, in the kitchen and when showering (short showers please). Please don't leave taps running unnecessarily (e.g. when cleaning teeth and shaving).
As part of our environmentally friendly approach, we change towels and sheets every week (for stays of seven nights or longer). If you do want a fresh towel at some stage during your stay, please let us know. We service the room when we change the sheets, not daily.
We only use the heating and air-conditioning when absolutely necessary. During hot days, close the window and the curtains and that will help keep the room cool. The nights are generally cooler and an open window at night will cool the room. When the air-conditioning is on, the window needs to be slightly open to allow the cool air to flow.
Please turn off lights and appliances when not using them.
Our garden is watered using our own bore system that is not connected to the main supply.
GARDEN AND POOL
Please feel free to relax in the back garden and use the sun lounges.
The pool is a salt water pool. We keep the pool cover on when the pool is not in use to minimise evaporation and use of chemicals. It also maintains a pleasant water temperature. If you want to swim and the cover is on, please ask and we will remove it. If we are not going to be here, we will show you how to remove and store the cover and put it back on at the end of the day.
No diving or excessive splashing that wastes water.
Do not use our bath towels for the pool. We can provide pool towels if needed.
Please use only plastic glasses around the pool; no glass or bottles.
There are power points at floor level behind the curtains plus a power board at the bedhead. If you forgot your adapter, please ask. We might have one to lend you.
This is a non-smoking home. No smoking anywhere! If you do smoke, please go outside the gate.
We prefer that you not have visitors in our house. Definitely no visitors when we are not here. As this is a residential neighbourhood, please keep noise to a minimum, especially if returning to the house late in the evening.
We have a folder with tourist and other information, maps and bus timetables.

Top accommodation; The interior, bed and washroom are very good (everything clean and tidy). The location is good as well, easy to find and get to and away from.
We can highly recommend Allan & Pär-Johan as hosts, and same for the room!

After a long flight we arrived to this little heaven on earth. Its beautiful, quiet and very comfortable. Allan and Pär-Johan are great hosts, friendly and helpful and have become very good friends to us. We keep coming back whenever we come to Perth.
We had the best imaginable start into our new lives in Australia at the Goody Bed and Breakfast when staying there the first three weeks after our arrival. Allan and Par-Johan were amiable and very obliging hosts. We had great conversations and strongly recommend their home to anyone who wants to become acquainted with Perth and its surroundings in a cosy and familiar atmosphere. We hope and are very sure that we'll soon be catching up again.
The decision of booking this property instead of another one was not based on the price but more conveniently for us on the location, the description made about the house and most of all because of the "house rules" which made us supposing the owners took great care of their guests.
Once there we realized that what promised through the ad was what we could actually get and this was very much appreciated; the owners were nice, quiet, and friendly people we got along very well with, so we do recommend this B&B and wish Allan and Par-Johan to keep on having a successfull business

Yes it was not a backpak but over the day it became and not our fault. We have always been respectful unlike people in couchsurfing who stay for 3 weeks ... everyone borrowed salt or futile small things and we cleaned always all !

Au delà d'un cadre sympathique, d'une maison propre et spacieuse, Par Johan a été au top durant ce jour: conseils, dispos, pédagogue (notamment dans l'aide à l'oral en anglais), et très à l'écoute.
Les conversations en soirées ont été très intéressantes.J'avais l'impression que Par Johan était bien plus d'une connaissance de part la simplicité de la relation, des échanges...
