Explore The Historic Pullman community via the Visitor Center for walking tours, history of Pullman with interesting artifacts and more! Stop by our community organic food gardens and bee apiary at the Pullman Factory Site. Stroll through Arcade Park and gaze at the incredible restoration/renovations occurring at the Florence Hotel (and maybe witness an impromptu installation by our prolific Knit 'n Crochet group)... then meander down the street to be charmed by the architecture of the Greenstone Church, keep going and you will run into our new organic urban farm / food justice project (the Cooperation Operation). Hop on the Metra train (Metra Electric line) for a quick 20-30 min ride to all the downtown attractions Chicago has to offer (drops you at the center of everything; Millennium Park, Cultural Center, The Art Institute of Chicago...also stops at the Museum Campus (The Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, The Field Museum, and The Shedd Aquarium), McCormick Place and Hyde Park U of C campus). SEE MORE TRAIN INFO BELOW*
One bedroom has a full size very comfortable bed that sleeps two. There is also an airbed that can be put in the study for an additional guest if needed. Linens and towels are provided. Check-in check-out times are flexible unless there is someone else coming / going on the same date(s). In that case check-out is 11:00am or before and check-in is 2:00 pm or after. There is plenty of free street parking.
NOTES ON PULLMAN: The Pullman community is located on the far south side of Chicago and is in my opinion one of the most interesting and diverse areas of the city. People come from all over the world to see the historical remains (incredibly intact) of an industrialists utopia once touted "the worlds most perfect town". It is not the gold coast or your typical Chicago tourist spot but is instead a multicultural community engaged in preservation, restoration and re-purpose/reuse. There is one corner grocery store here with limited items (but always seems to have the makings for fresh guacamole and good chips! also butter, eggs and limited fruit/vegs. Homemade tamales and authentic mole dishes on the weekends) and a eccentric diner/restaurant down the street for breakfast/lunch but your shopping /dining will likely be outside of the community. Pullman is truly unique and filled with charm (and only 20-30 mins to downtown Chicago). I'm pretty sure you will fall in love.
*More train info: The Metra Electric train runs from Pullman to the Chicago loop on a posted time schedule every few minutes during rush hours to once an hour during the rest of the day/evening Monday through Saturday and every two hours on Sunday. It is a 20 - 30 min ride to downtown. The last train of the evening leaves the Chicago loop 12:50 am. You can find a complete schedule on line at the metrarail site by looking up the Metra Electric Line (ME). The Kensington / 115th Street station is an easy 3 block walk from the flat and takes you to Millennium Park station in the heart of downtown Chicago. Most everyone loves the incredibly comfortable and quick train ride! If you are going to be taking it back and forth you can buy a 10 ride pass, Also offered are weekend passes with unlimited rides for only $7.00... Lots of Pullman people commute to downtown everyday!
Public Transportation from the airports:
O'Hare: Take the blue line el to the Washington stop and walk over to the metra station at Randolph and Michigan Ave. Take the Metra Electric University Park train to Kensington/115th station and walk 3 blocks to the flat. Very easy.

"Allies was gut ist muss gelebt und gelitten haben", said one of Berlins finest young writers of today. Meaning: Everything good on this planet has to struggle in order to get and be alive.
JB's place in the miraculous Pullman district is filled with lovely details. He must have spend a decade to get it where it is today. Coffee, tea and cereals awaited us when we came in, it was cosy warm & cosy.
JB is a very warm, although the outside temperature was not over 15 degrees. He hosts artists from around the world in his downstairs studio, that fills the air up with creative, positive and "let's play" energy. Thanks JB - you ll hear from me next year.
