Our stay with Laurence and Nick was the perfect beginning of a three week trip. Their house is in the perfect location, quiet but close to the Castro area with lots of restaurants and shops and with a good connection to downtown and other parts of SF by metro or bus or even on foot. The room was great, quiet and clean, a good place to sleep off our jetlag and relax from two sightseeing days. The hosts provided us with helpful information on how to get there from the airport as well as ideas on what to do in San Francisco and recommendations of restaurants etc. Definitely worth repeating, if we come back to San Francisco.
I go to San Francisco every year but this was my first experience booking through Wimdu and staying with Laurence and Nick. I could not have been any happier with taking the risk! The house was gorgeous and in the perfect location. Castro, Lower Haight and the MUNI stations were literally a few blocks from the residence. While I had met only Laurence in person, both him and Nick were great about making me feel welcome, without being too overbearing. BART went on strike the day after I arrived and Nick was great about being in contact via e-mail to notify me of the situation and provide many alternatives for my departure. Both seem to be well integrated into the neighborhood around them, and thus were able to make well-informed suggestions for dining and entertainment. The price point was great also! I will definitely try to book with these guys for all of my future trips to the Bay area.
I had a great stay with the guys. As others have said they were always friendly but respected privacy and had lots of tips to make the San Francisco visit even more enjoyable. Perfect location if you want to be in the Castro area and a very comfortable room. Thanks again gents
We stayed for three nights in the beautifull house from Nick and Laurence. Castro is a nice part of SF. The room was good and clean, the bed was very good. We got a lot of interesting tips. We loved our stay here.
Our stay at Laurence and Nick's was wonderful. The room was clean and spacious and it has its own private bathroom, which we found very convenient. They provided us with a lot of travel tips, there was a guest book in the room with recommendations and they sent us emails with more travel tips which was a very nice gesture. The location was perfect. Castro is a nice neighborhood and close to Mission and Market St. Would definitely stay again!
When you open the red door to 281 Castro st. and step inside the victorian wood house you enter a very calm and soothing atmosphere with buddha statues and a nice fragrance of incense. Maybe there is a dog there too behind bars who show pleasure seeing you coming.
You walk up the staircase to the second floor where the room is where we lived in the 5 days we were in San Francisco,
The room is very nice and big with a comfortable bed, fridge, coffee machine and a nice spacious closet, where you can store al your suitcases after you have put your clothes in place.. Nice little bathroom too.
There is only one window that is facing a wall, so there is not very much light from outside, though Laurens and Nick have an other room for rent on the third floor that have bay view.
The surroundings are very nice in the middle of Castro street where you can walk over the hills to Golden Gate Park or you can go down the Market Street and find restaurants, bars and shops.
With the F-line streetcar you can go from Castro through Market Street all the way to Fishermen's Wharf. We used this line very much during our stay, because you can reach many interesting places from this route. As a senior citizen I payed 75 cents for a ride.
Our hosts where extremely friendly, considerate and helpful and did there best to help us get the most out of our stay in SF.
We enjoyed very much staying there and we can highly recommend this place.
Thank you Laurens and Nick!
Hello Nick and Laurence,
yes I know it's been a long time, but I have not forget to write a note.
Laurence and Nick are very nice hosts. The house is very centrally located and very quiet. We can remmomend our room on the first floor. The small front porch invites almost the first coffee of the day. Should we come back to SFO, I would try to stay again with Laurence and Nick.
Thanks a lot for the great time in your house and the proposals what happens in the city.
Thank you to Laurence and Nick for a delightful stay in your Castro area home! It was such a nice touch to receive a warm welcome from Laurence upon our arrival, and to have a quick tour of the room and it's ameneties. Our hosts were very respectful of our privacy, but made it known that if we needed anything they were only a phone calll away! The second floor accomodations are comfortable, spacious and well appointed. We found convenient parking with almost no trouble at all on Beaver or 15th Streets; a real treat in a city where parking is at a premium! The location is great with easy walking access to the various Castro area shops, restaurants and bars. We highly recommend Laurence and Nick's Castro Area Accomodations for the traveler looking for a unique lodging experience!
We stayed at Nick & Laurence's place for 8 nights. The bedroom was very comfortable, with a huge closet and a very nice bathroom. The place was very quiet during the night, which I partiularly appreciated.
The place is extremely well located, a 10 min walk to Bart station and a 5 min walk to Muni. The neighbourhood has plenty to offer (nice caffés, restaurants, cinema).
Nick and Laurence were very helpful before and during my stray, giving me all the up-to-date information of the neighbourhood. They didn't have to provide all this information during my stay, and I really appreciated that they made this special effort, in order to have us live the SF life "from the inside".
I would gladly go back next time I go to SF !
My wife and I traveled to San Francisco over Thanksgiving to visit our daughter and instead of staying in the traditional hotel we decided to use Wimdu and try different experience...it was wonderful!! Laurence met us at the appointed time, and was so helpful, making these first time visitors to his city feel very much at home. Their rental was a perfect location as it wasn't very far from our daughter or anywhere else in the city it seemed like. The room was clean, very nicely decorated and quiet, which we very much appreciated after all the walking and site seeing that we did during the day. Although there was not kitchen to use, the great location made several great S.F. restaurants available to us...plus were didn't travel that far to spend time cooking anyway!! I hit the free in room coffee pretty hard (sorry Laurence) and the bathroom and shower were well supplied in case we had left anything behind in our hurry to make our flight from Iowa. We would highly recommend this location and these host to anyone!! Since our daughter will be living in San Francisco for a long time (in her very small apartment!) I'm sure we'll be contacting Laurence again for a great place to stay in a beautiful area of the city.
