I travel to Istanbul often. I have to say this is one of the best places I have stayed. The heat in the room was excellent, double doors so the room appears very safe it has a very heavy front door and the owners travel business is just next door if you need help. The location is great, about a 10 minute walk to İstiklal Avenue, though it is an uphill walk, good exercise.
I explored this neighbourhood and found the on Sunday, one of the largest fruit and veg markets I have ever been to was at my door step. Really good restaurants around the corner and small grocery stores next door if you need a last minute item.
The host was the best part, Maria is kind and goodhearted and very helpful.
The room also has a working table, and a bathroom which are great. As a travel photographer I really enjoyed my stay. No frills here but great, practical place with a great location, you can use it as a base for travelling or just stay and hang out in Istanbul. Highly recommended.
Hello Mary and Ferruh,
We liked it very much in Instanbul, had a very nice trip thanks to your enthusiasm and beautiful apartment.
We will definitely return!
regards, Dick & Jet
The apartment was very convenient and near to taksim but neighborhood was little strange but it is very close to police that make it safe, the house was reconstructed and good looking, the house owner was kind and they helped us mush to feel ourselves like home, the room was clean, comfortable and cozy , good place for a city like Istanbul
Sehr nette Gastgeber!
Sehr freundliche Maria.
Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen ...
Shahin and his Partner were very welcoming and friendly (offering tea when I arrived) and for one person the flat is spacious and the bed comfortable, the bathroom space is tight but the shower was efficient and hot. There is also a small kitchen area. The Wifi worked well but there appeared to be only 2 channels on the tv really not a problem this though. The apartment was also quiet during the week (I stayed for 6 nights) but not so quiet on Friday or Saturday when there is some noise from the street outside... But it is certainly much quieter than Taksim or Istiklal area if you value quiet.
The apartment is about a 5-10 minute walk down from Istiklal St which is a long lively shopping st which buzzes until well after midnight crowded with people as does Taksim Sq above Istaklal. Tarlabasi Boulevard a rather unappealing street also runs down from Taksim to close to the apartment. If not taking a taxi or bus to get to the apartment it is better to turn down from Istiklal and go under an underpass which brings you under Tarlabasi Boulevard and into a tight little knot of streets where the flats are. There are some derelict buildings nearby which seems to be typical of Istanbul but could be off-putting. These narrow streets are also not very well lit at night time. I would suggest to anyone travelling to Istanbul that if you are not good at walking you must think of either using local transport or stay close to the places you wish to visit (undoubtedly the Palace and Mosques in Sultanahmet) - Istanbul is full of steep hills and footpaths are often rough or broken, you really need to be a good walker. I walked everywhere and ended up exhausted climbing the hills. I suggest that you really research and get to know Istanbul and where you are intending to stay before you visit. Otherwise I wish you a happy stay in an amazing and very different city (to Western eyes) with infinite appeal.
It was a pleasure for us to join nicoleport.
Very friendly, helpfull and warmhearted hosts. Without Maria and her family it would not have been this great visit in istanbul we had, cause they helped us already on our arrival when i noticed that my lugage was transposed.
We enjoyed it very much.
Nice to meeting you. It has not been our last stay in istanbul.
The room was nice and Maria and her staff were really very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we couldn't use the wonderful roof top terace because it was too cold and windy.
