|住所||Palffygasse, 1170 Vienna, オーストリア|
I own the apartment and it is available for a minimum two night stay. It is an entire floor, 70 sq. meters, in a hundred year old house that is situated in the inner court of the apartment houses lining the surrounding streets. Because of this, it is absolutely quiet. The court has large, shady trees, with birds in the warmer weather.
There are two large rooms with high ceilings (bedroom and living room) on the wings of the house, with a modern kitchen, bathroom and hallway in the center between the two large rooms. I've attractively and artistically designed the place, as I think the photos show. Having traveled a lot in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine, the decor is peppered with artwork from these cultures. The master bedroom has a comfortable double bed, plus an attractive futon couch which opens to sleep two. In the living room, the large, oversized couch (see photo) is flat and comfortable, and has easily slept two adults. So really, six people could sleep, but for a number of days, four people would be a more comfortable number. All bedding covers provided.
The apartment is very convenient to the inner city, also known as Old Vienna, or the First District. This is where most of Vienna's famous buildings, monuments and sites are. I am 1.5 blocks from the #43 tram, which is then only five stops away from the Ringstrasse, the border of the inner city. It is a ten minute tram ride, or, a nice thirty minute walk through the student area bordering the University of Vienna. If you take the tram in the direction opposite the inner city, you'll wind up at the end of the tram line, and near the famous Vienna woods.
There are many restaurants and supermarkets in the immediate area, especially in Yppenplatz, two blocks away. An Do is an outstanding fish restaurant there, and Kent is a very reasonable Turkish restaurant with a casual, even family style atmosphere. There is an open air Turkish style market in Yppenplatz also, next to the Turkish bakery with a huge brick oven for fresh baked bread.
To hook up with the world class Vienna UBahn system, take the #43 tram toward Old Vienna and get off after just one stop to transfer to the UBahn line #6. This puts the whole city in the palm of your hand via the easy to use network of subway, trams and buses.
PARKING: Things are changing rapidly in Vienna in regard to free parking. Recently, free parking in the 18th District, the district next to mine, was canceled. Now, the nearest districts where free parking on the street seems to be possible are the 19th and the 21st. Fortunately, both connect with the U6 UBahn line, which includes my own UBahn stop at Alserstrasse. The 19th is closest. However, you must make inquiries by contacting the districts and asking about changes. The website below is about parking in Vienna. Note I have also copied some info about free parking in the various districts.
Short-stay parking zones in Vienna are:
• Districts 1 to 9 and 20: Monday to Friday, except public holidays, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., max. stay 2 hours
• Districts 12 and 14 to 18: Monday to Friday, except public holidays, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., max. stay 3 hours
• Special scheme near the Stadthalle: Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., max. stay 2 hours

Make sure all doors to all buildings are closed after you enter.
Keep the noise down after 10 p.m.
No shoes inside the apartment. These should be removed, and replaced with house slippers, in the front entrance area of the flat.
No smoking whatsoever inside the building anywhere.
Don't grab hold of thin bar holding up shower curtain. Use the several handrails instead.
Rinse hair catch screen in bathtub after EACH AND EVERY shower.
Generally respect the order and cleanliness with how the apartment is when you arrived.
During cold weather, heat thermostat is NOT to be turned above the 20 degree celsius setting. At night, turn down to 15 or it'll be too warm to sleep.
No more than TWO showers per person, per day.
Any questions for repairs, see Astrid in the flat on the first level (first door) as you enter the back, yellow building.
Carl has a lovely apartment not far from the center of Vienna. The inserted photos all correspond to reality. You feel as if you are staying at a friend's house. We particulary liked the Middle Eastern flair of the apartment. We can only recommend staying there!
Very considerate Host. Extraordinary apartment, absolutely quiet day and night, cosy atmosphere.
Very nice and cosy appartment: I will come back to Vienna in January or February next year and I will definitely try to get this one again.
The apartment is very nice - you may feel like home. Good location.
The owner is a very nice person.
Living in Carl's appartement, was a very new experience for us. We felt, like a friend has given us the key for his appartement. We wouldn't recommend it for families with young kids. There are so many private and interesting things - young childs could break something. Altough it was in the first district of Vienna, it was very quiet and we slept well. Thank you for everything Carl!
